My Little Pony

Was soo determined to make it to this nostalgic little gem curated by Sweet Streets, The My Little Pony Project 2012 at the Toy Art Gallery.

The modern, moreover Japanese interpretation was everything a girl’s sparkly, iced out dreams are made of. I distinctly remember taking scissors and markers to my own Little Ponies and in my mind the poor butchered horses looked how these extravagantly remodeled creatures actually turned out. Twenty-five select Artists got a chance to decorate a Pony to their liking and the results were amazing, ranging in theme from Lolita to a tongue in cheek take on Elmer’s glue. The iconic acrylic toys stood around a foot and a half tall and I was on more than one instance tempted to rip one of the ponies off a pedestal and run a life-sized brush through one of their silky, decora tails.  The customized figures are available for sale until the exhibition closes on May 26 & 10% of the sales from the My Little Pony one-of-a-kind figures will be donated to Give Kids The World. You can see more of the Ponies and art at the online pop-up shop here.
