Creature of the Week

This amazing linear piece was created by illustrator Ben Newman for Q Pop Gallery in a show titled Kamen Rider Vs Super Sentai Exhibition (2011). Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are long running, popular Japanese shows of the super-hero team genre and in case you haven’t already guessed are the main inspiration for the Americanized version Power Rangers. You can see the exaggerated eyes and bug like features that identify many of the villainous creatures on the show. I absolutely love this fresh reinterpretation… especially after watching at least 767 episodes while Arion went through the customary Power Ranger phase. You can see more of Ben Newman’s work here!
